Talking to a girlfriend today I was reminded…we all have stress and tough situations in our lives-every one of us faces some kind of burden. How you handle that can make or break you-literally.
Did you know stress can cause changes in your body as well as your emotions? Stress can affect you both instantly (acute stress) and over time (chronic stress).
Chronic (long-term) stress is the most damaging-caused by stressful situations or events that last over a long period of time. This could include having a difficult job or dealing with a chronic disease. If you already have a health problem, stress can make it worse.
Here are some things you can do to reduce stress:
Live a simpler life…cut out those things you really do not need.
Spring clean and get rid of the clutter! Whether it is people or things-Is it useful, beautiful, do you love it? If not part ways!
Make a list and check things off as you do them. I make my list the night before now and it helps me focus during the day.
Work out! Exercise is great with helping us manage our stress. This is my on again love affair…reboot yourself and get out and walk! I promise you will feel better!
Ask for help! When you need help and someone asks if you do-take them up on it! They will be glad they helped you and you will get a bit of relief.
Do something nice for someone else, you will lighten their load, and you will feel better too!
Rediscover a passion that you love. Two of mine are making Candles and Music.
. Let that passion ignite you and set your heart on fire!
How do you handle stress? What makes you feel better?
