Dinner tonight:Stracciatella (Italian Egg Drop Soup)

For a quick, healthy dinner on a cold night try Stracciatella!

Stracciatella comes from the Italian word stracciato meaning ragged or shredded…

  • You begin with a pot of 6 cups Chicken Broth (you can use Veggie Broth too!)
  • 3 large Eggs (more if you wish to use only eggwhites)
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese
  • 1 tbsp. finely chopped Italian parsley
  • a generous handful of chopped fresh Spinach.
  • freshly grated Nutmeg (just a pinch)
  • Sea Salt and Fresh Black Pepper to taste.

Bring the broth to boil in a saucepan.  Combine eggs, parsley, cheese and nutmeg whisk together in a separate bowl.

Whisk the mixture into the boiling stock and reduce heat to low. Continue to whisk for 3 to 4 minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper and divide evenly among 6 warmed soup bowls. Serve immediately, topped with more grated cheese if desired. This is also delicious if you float a slice of garlic rubbed toasted baguette bread on top!  You could add more veggies or mushrooms too!

Mangia!

The power of words.

I  have recently read some excerpts of the book Messages from Water by Masaru Emoto.  It was interesting to me because according to his claims  if human speech or thoughts are directed at water droplets before they are frozen, images of the resulting water crystals will be “beautiful” or “ugly” depending upon whether the words or thoughts were positive or negative. Emoto claims this can be achieved through prayer, music or by attaching written words to a container of water.

Some have criticized his claims to to insufficient experimental controls during his studies. It does make you wonder though doesn’t it?

A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes.

Proverbs 16:24
Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.

Matthew 15:18
But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person.

A kind word at an opportune moment can go a long way to lighten the burden someone else is carrying…  🙂

What Scent makes you feel alive?

Did you know that a fragrance company, Takasago showed the results of a study relating the reduction of clerical error to the use of essential oils.  Keyboard punching errors fell by 20 percent when the air was scented with lavender

and 33 percent when jasmine then was substituted.

There was an astonishing 54 percent reduction in clerical error when workers were exposed to lemon oils.

And by intermittently changing aromas, efficiency levels were maintained.

What wakes you up and makes you feel Alive?!
