Micro Blogging, Catalogs and Pinboards Oh My!

What inspires you?  For me that is one long and very eclectic list!

I am inspired by random art, old books, exotic places, or food & wine, music or the unsuspected colors and textures of nature, the Moon or funny and truthful quotes.

It is fun and unexpectedly inspiring to micro blog or view others ideas of what Beauty is…what defines Inspiration?

There are a lot of  fun & easy ways to do this.  My favorite is probably my Tumblr blog-Alchemy.  I also like Pintrest a lot.  I have some friends that use We Heart It and also The Fancy.

What services do you use?  What Inspires YOU?!

Do You Have Sight or Vision?

Sight is the ability to see things as they are. Vision is the ability to see things as they could be.

Once upon a time there was a shoe salesman who went to Africa to scout the market. Seeing everyone bare-footed, he became discouraged and wired his manufacturer: “There’s no business here. They don’t wear shoes.” The company brought him home. Meanwhile, a competitor who was in the same region sent a message back to his organization. Excitedly he said: “This is an unbelievable opportunity. They all need shoes and no one else is selling here!”

How often do you stay on the track of “what is” rather than to challenge your initial reactions and ask “what might be?” When you only focus on the problems of your life – revenues are down, employee conflicts – you are near-sighted. You allow your vision to be obstructed by what you see now or what you believe based on past experiences.

Success truly begins in your mind. As the motivational speaker Zig Ziglar said: “You must see the reaching before you reach the reaching.”

The question of vision is a very simple one – what do you want in your life?

Be aware of the things that are influencing you. For example, what books do you read? What words do you speak? What thoughts do you think? With whom do you spend the most time? If you’re constantly mixing with people who talk about how lousy life is, these people form the basis of your reality. Be careful about what you allow into your head because these things shape your views and eventually your vision.

These are things I am thinking about today…what do YOU think?

What Scent makes you feel alive?

Did you know that a fragrance company, Takasago showed the results of a study relating the reduction of clerical error to the use of essential oils.  Keyboard punching errors fell by 20 percent when the air was scented with lavender

and 33 percent when jasmine then was substituted.

There was an astonishing 54 percent reduction in clerical error when workers were exposed to lemon oils.

And by intermittently changing aromas, efficiency levels were maintained.

What wakes you up and makes you feel Alive?!

Superbowl XLV!

In case there was any doubt who we are cheering for in the Superbowl let me just say GO PACKERS!!!  🙂

Tomorrow I am looking forward to a day of rowdy friends and family, screams and cheers, bratwurst and beer, funny commercials and the cherry on top?  Hopefully a Green Bay WIN!

Who is my favorite player?  Clay Matthews #52 of course.  Why you ask?  Because he is a violent man. 🙂  It reminds me of playing and watching Hockey-I apparently like my sports with a side of viciousness. *gasp*

Clay Mattherws #52 Green Bay Packers

Do you know how the Packers got their name?

Do you know what the “G” stands for in the Packers logo? It’s not what you think. It stands for “Greatness”. Not Green Bay. The oval “G” Packers logo was created in 1961 by Packers then-equipment manager George Braisher.

So break out your Cheese head and cheer with me Go Pack GO!

Full M☼☼n Lunar Eclipse on the Midwinter Solstice.

Early Tuesday morning stargazers all over North America and  Europe will storms willing be able to witness a spectacular sight!  A total lunar eclipse that will also coincide with the Winter Solstice.  The Sun, Earth and Moon will be in a direct line -the moon should still be visible,
but will possibly turn pink or even red.  Most of this refracted light is in the red part of the spectrum and as a result the moon, seen from Earth, turns a reddish, coppery or orange hue, sometimes even brownish.

“The entire event is visible from North America, Greenland and Iceland,” says NASA’s veteran eclipse expert Fred Espenak, pointing out that for observers in the western United States and Canada, the show will start on Monday evening rather than Tuesday morning.

“Western Europe will see the beginning stages of the eclipse before moonset, while western Asia will get the later stages after moonrise.”

The eclipse runs for three and a half hours, from 6:33 GMT to 10:01 GMT (1:33 a.m. EST to 5:01 a.m. EST), although the stage of total eclipse — when the moon heads into the “umbra” cast by the Earth — lasts from 7:41 to 8:53 GMT (2:41 a.m. EST to 3:53 a.m. EST).

Lunar eclipses have long been associated with superstitions and signs of ill omen, especially in battle.  The defeat of the Persian king Darius III by Alexander the Great in the Battle of Gaugamela in 331 B.C. was foretold when the moon turned blood-red a few days earlier.

The last total lunar eclipse took place on Feb. 21, 2008. Next year, says Espenak, will see two: on June 15 and Dec. 10. This Solstice Eclipse is the first in 456 years!

What will you do to celebrate?  I am using up some wishes hoping the clouds and rain clear-our area in Southern California is currently hit by what meteorologists are calling the storm of the century. I am going to settle in with a tall glass of wine, light a few candles and hope for the best!  🙂

Our Candle fragrance of the day is of course our Winter Solstice: an exquisite blend of Woods, Frozen Blackberry, Fig, Rose, Amber and Spices. Opening with Bergamot and Fig, it reveals a luscious heart of French Rose, Cinnamon, Frozen Blackberry. Base notes of most seductive Cedar, Balsam and Sandalwood are sweetened with Amber.
